BMV Hydraulic Motor Overview and Applications

The Olive Branch Hydraulics BMV hydraulic motor is a high torque disc valve orbital motor in nine nominal sizes: BMV250, BMV315, BMV400, BMV500, BMV630, BMV800, BMV1000, BMV1250 and BMV1600. Catalogue continuous torque runs from 660 Nm to 2700 Nm, and intermittent torque reaches 3380 Nm.

The same disc valve range comes in three body styles: standard flange motors, the BMW wheel motor and the BMVS bearingless motor for gearbox-integrated drives. We manufacture in Hebei, China, quote EXW Hebei, and check every configuration against a confirmed drawing before we issue a price.

Equipment Selection Guide

Equipment Usual Body Style Check Before Ordering
Conveyors Standard flange motor Continuous torque at running pressure, start-up load, shaft drawing
Augers Standard flange, mid to large sizes Torque at start or jam, with intermittent duty limited to 6 s per minute
Rotary equipment Standard flange motor Speed at working pressure, radial load on the shaft
Engineered wheel drives BMW wheel motor (F6) Hub interface (pilot 180 mm, PCD 224 mm). No brake rating is published.
Gearbox-integrated drives BMVS bearingless (F9/F10) External bearing in the host gearbox, plus spline and pilot fit

Every application requires a selection review. The table shows the usual starting point and does not confirm a fit for any specific machine.

Key Features of the BMV Disc Valve Motor

  • Disc valve distribution on all nine sizes. Oil timing is handled by a separate valve disc, not a spool valve on the output shaft.
  • Nine nominal size codes from 250 to 1600 cc/rev. These are nominal catalogue designations; confirm actual swept volume on the order drawing.
  • Common continuous flow of 150 L/min on every size. Intermittent flow is 200 L/min for the BMV250 and 225 L/min for the BMV315 through BMV1600.
  • Pressure steps down at the large sizes. Continuous pressure is 200 bar on the BMV250–BMV1000, 160 bar on the BMV1250 and 130 bar on the BMV1600.
  • Trade-off at BMV1250: its continuous torque (2500 Nm) is lower than the BMV1000 (2700 Nm) because of the lower pressure rating.
  • Ten flange codes, F1 to F10, including the F6 BMW wheel mount and the F9/F10 BMVS bearingless mounts.
  • Rotation convention: oil in at port A and out at port B gives clockwise rotation, viewed facing the shaft.
  • BMVS bearingless: the motor has no output bearings, so the host gearbox or hub carries the shaft loads.

Technical Specifications: BMV250–BMV1600 Rating Table

Four values decide most selections: continuous torque at your working pressure, speed at that pressure, drain-side pressure and the flange code. Select by torque first, then check speed, then confirm the mount.

The P95 summary page and the performance curves on P96–P97 do not agree at every point. For example, the BMV630 curve shows 180/210 bar continuous/intermittent versus 200/250 bar in the summary; larger-size curves also show different flow and pressure boundaries. Use this table for initial comparison only and obtain written combined-duty confirmation before selection. The curves do not upgrade the summary ratings.

How to Read the Ratings

  • Combined duty: maximum pressure and maximum speed are separate limits. The catalogue does not state a maximum speed at maximum pressure.
  • Written confirmation: any combined pressure and speed operating point is confirmed in writing for your configuration. We never raise ratings above catalogue values.
  • Intermittent: no more than 6 seconds in any minute. The recommended maximum system temperature is 82 °C.
  • 310 bar is a transient peak figure. It is not a backpressure allowance for all configurations.
  • Case and return pressure: the 175 bar case and 200 bar return-peak seal statements depend on configuration. The drain arrangement is confirmed on your drawing.
  • Brake: no brake rating is published for this range.

Mounting drawings and configuration codes

The complete P95–P106 catalogue pages are included in the gallery. Read the mechanical drawing together with the order-code table; neither a nominal size nor a family name defines a finished motor. The photograph illustrates a standard keyed-shaft family configuration, not every displacement, wheel or bearingless version.

Flanges: check pilot, bolt circle and hole diameter separately

Code / version Pilot / PCD (mm) Mounting holes / drawing note
F1 small square 125 on P98 drawing / 160 PCD 4 × 14.5; P106 order table instead prints pilot 160: resolve on approved drawing
F2 small square 127 / 162 4 × 14.5
F3 small square 127 / 162 4 × 17
F4 large square I 160 / 200 4 × 18; pilot projection 34.5
F5 large square II 160 / 200 4 × 18; pilot projection 39, different shaft geometry
F6 BMW wheel 180 / 224 P99 drawing 4 × 18; P106 order table 18.5: confirm bolt clearance
F7 large square III 175 / 250 4 × 22; A19 shaft drawing
F8 large square IV 200 / 250 4 × 22; A16–A18 shaft drawings
F9 / F10 BMVS bearingless 140 / 160 pilots, both 180 PCD 4 × 14; external bearing support required

F1 is not a confirmed 160 mm pilot configuration: the drawing and order table disagree. F6 hole dimensions also require written confirmation before manufacture. Do not substitute the bolt circle for the pilot diameter.

Installation-face-to-rear reference H

Nominal size Small square H F4 H F5 H BMW H BMVS H (mm)
250 226 212 202 142 163
315 231 217 207 147 168
400 239 225 215 155 176
500 247 233 223 163 184
630 257 243 233 173 194
800 271 257 247 187 208
1000 288 274 264 204 225

H excludes the output-shaft projection. F7/F8 drawings cover sizes 800/1000/1250/1600 with H 265/282/303/331 mm respectively. The catalogue does not provide every size in every mounting form; availability requires configuration review.

Shaft selection

Small-flange examples include A1 Ø57.15 mm keyed (12.7 × 12.7 × 57 key), A2 Ø40 mm keyed (12 × 8 × 45), A3 14-tooth 12/24 DP involute spline, A6 Ø50 mm keyed (14 × 9 × 70), A7 16-tooth 8/16 DP and A8 17-tooth 12/24 DP. A10 is a different 17-tooth module-2.5 spline: it is not the A8 spline. F4 A12 uses a Ø50 mm shaft with a 14 × 9 × 63 key on P103; the order table prints 70, so confirm the key and projection. A13 is Ø40 mm with a 12 × 8 × 65 key. A14 Ø50 mm and A15 16-tooth 8/16 DP belong to the F5 drawings. A16 Ø63 mm keyed, A17 six-groove rectangular spline and A18 Ø60 mm keyed belong to the larger mounting form; A19 is another six-groove rectangular spline for F7.

BMW A20 uses a Ø60 mm taper 1:10 with key 16 × 10 × 32; the illustrated slotted shaft nut is tightened to 750 ± 50 Nm. That figure is specific to the shaft nut, not the flange bolts. A21 wheel configuration has a Ø50 mm parallel keyed shaft. BMVS uses a separate 16-tooth 10/20 DP, 30° coupling spline and mating-hub drawing. Keep the six oil passages in the bearingless mating face open and supply the external bearings and lubrication path shown in P101.

Ports and drains

P1 G1, P2 M33×2, P3 1-5/16-12 UN with tapered sealing, P4 printed 1-1/16-12 UNC, P5 G3/4 and P6 M27×2 are the basic threaded choices. Confirm actual thread form and sealing geometry for the printed UN/UNC descriptions. P7/P8/P9 add a 4-M12 connection pattern to G1/M33×2/1-5/16-12 UN. P10/P11/P12 use a 4-M10 pattern with 1-1/16-12 UNC/G3/4/M27×2 on the P105 port drawing, while the order table prints 4-M12; resolve that discrepancy before ordering. P13 has two Ø16 openings with 4-M12 mounting threads. P14 has Ø16 openings and Ø33.2 × 2 counterbore details with 4-M10 threads. P15 G1-1/4 and P16 M42×2 use the larger 4-M12 pattern.

Basic threaded ports show 18 mm depth, and P15/P16 show 20 mm. Port-face mounting-bolt depths are separate: 15 mm minimum for the illustrated patterns, 16 mm minimum on the larger face. Drain options in the order table are G1/4, M14×1.5, 9/16-18 UNF or G3/8 according to code; do not infer a drain thread from displacement alone.

International model searches

Model search spellings: BMV250 / BMV 250 / BMV-250; BMV315 / BMV 315 / BMV-315; BMV400 / BMV 400 / BMV-400; BMV500 / BMV 500 / BMV-500; BMV630 / BMV 630 / BMV-630; BMV800 / BMV 800 / BMV-800; BMV1000 / BMV 1000 / BMV-1000; BMV1250 / BMV 1250 / BMV-1250; BMV1600 / BMV 1600 / BMV-1600. These are nominal size aliases, not complete order codes. BMW identifies the wheel motor in this catalogue; BMVS identifies the bearingless version.

International enquiries may use motor hidráulico orbital BMV, motor orbital de alto par BMV (ES); moteur hydraulique orbital BMV, moteur hydraulique lent à couple élevé (FR); гидромотор BMV, героторный гидромотор BMV (RU). OMV is a separate brand-family comparison term: send the full original code for review. No verified OEM material number or automatic OMV interchange is claimed here.

Compare our BMT disc valve motor and B6K orbital motor by duty and interfaces, not nominal displacement alone.

Why Choose Olive Branch Hydraulics

Every quotation starts from your drawing, not from a catalogue part number. We check size, flange, shaft, ports and drain against a confirmed drawing before we quote a price.

Distributors and Wholesale Buyers

  • Pricing is quoted per size and per quantity break. Name two or three quantity levels to receive tiered prices.
  • The trade term is EXW Hebei. Request carton dimensions, gross weight and packing quantities with your quotation.
  • Gear pumps and hydraulic parts can be quoted on the same RFQ.
  • Regional distributor applications should include territory and an estimated annual volume. Terms are agreed in writing.

OEM/ODM and Private Label

  1. Send your requirement and a 2D or 3D drawing showing flange, shaft, port and drain details.
  2. We review the configuration against the limits in catalogue P95–106.
  3. We quote a sample or a small trial order.
  4. Drawing, ratings, marking and packaging are confirmed in writing.
  5. Batch production follows, with handover EXW Hebei.

White-label nameplates, carton labels and custom packaging are available on request. Any NDA requirements are reviewed separately before drawing exchange.

Engineers, Project Buyers and QC Managers

  • Your team or an appointed inspector can inspect our Hebei factory before or during the order.
  • Documentation covers only what has been verified for your specific order. List the documents you need at RFQ stage.
  • Catalogue summary and curve discrepancies are disclosed; a quotation requires confirmation of the permitted combined operating point.

BMV Hydraulic Motor FAQ

Can a BMV motor run at maximum pressure and maximum speed at the same time?

No. The catalogue gives no maximum speed at maximum pressure, so every combined operating point is confirmed in writing for your configuration.

What does "intermittent" mean in the BMV ratings?

It means operation for no more than 6 seconds in any minute. Size continuous duty against the continuous columns only.

Is 310 bar the allowable backpressure?

No. The 310 bar figure is a transient peak and does not apply as a backpressure limit to every configuration.

Does the BMV motor need an external case drain?

It depends on the configuration. The 175 bar case and 200 bar return-peak statements vary by build, and we confirm the drain requirement on your drawing.

Does the BMVS bearingless motor need an external bearing?

Yes. The host gearbox or hub must carry the shaft loads, and the F9/F10 mounts use 140 or 160 mm pilots on a 180 mm PCD.

Is the BMV interchangeable with OMV motors?

Interchangeability has not been verified. We accept OMV references for comparison and check the full code, dimensions, sealing, circuit, rotation, loads and rated duty before any replacement approval.

Which certificates and documents come with an order?

Only documents verified for that specific order are supplied. Your required list is confirmed before the order is placed.

Do you accept small trial orders?

Yes. Quantity, price and packaging are set on the quotation, EXW Hebei.
